Family estate since 1780 · 8th generation
In Dahlenheim, at the foot of the Engelberg grand cru, Mélanie Pfister makes dry, vibrant whites — the first woman to lead eight generations of vines.
The estate takes root in Dahlenheim, in the Bas-Rhin, and passes from one generation to the next across more than two centuries.
An agricultural engineer and oenologist trained in Bordeaux and Dijon, with spells at Zind-Humbrecht, Méo-Camuzet, Cheval Blanc, Yquem and Craggy Range in New Zealand, she becomes the first woman to lead the estate.
A conversion carried through to the end: organic farming and the Fair’n Green sustainability standard — carbon footprint, working conditions, training, long-term investment.
On the label the first name comes above the surname: Mélanie Pfister, set in lower case beneath the hand-drawn motif. The heritage sits in the line below — vins de gastronomie depuis 1780.
« Qu’ils soient issus d’un cépage unique ou le fruit d’un assemblage inédit, chacun de nos vins porte un nom qui le distingue et signe sa personnalité et son origine. »
“Whether from a single grape variety or an unexpected blend, each of our wines carries a name that sets it apart and marks its character and its origin.” (Translated from the French)
Some twenty kilometres west of Strasbourg, on the Alsace Wine Route, set against the Engelberg slope. The village is first recorded in 884, in a charter for the abbey of Honau.
“The mountain of angels” — the village’s grand cru: a south-facing slope, marl over a limestone base, giving broad and finely bred wines.
“The silver mountain” — the mineral, clay-limestone terroir that gives the estate’s rieslings their taut, saline line.
Almost every cuvée takes the shortened name of its named site. The estate’s forty parcels are spread across these sites — these are the ones that yield a wine today.

Mostly dry wines, made for the table. Almost every cuvée takes the shortened name of its plot.
Blend — riesling, pinot gris, gewurztraminer, muscat
Mélanie’s signature cuvée: the four noble varieties together, riesling leading, in the proportions the vintage allows.
Pinot Blanc & Auxerrois
Hangenbreite
“The pair” — the freshness of pinot blanc, the flesh of auxerrois. A well-bred, generous white.
Pinot Gris
Silberberg
Aged in old barrels then in tank: an unusual mineral elegance, carried by juicy acidity.
Pinot Gris
Furdenheimer Tal
Steep slope, deep soil: the richest pinot gris of the range, losing none of the Pfister purity.
Muscat Ottonel
Kamm
The estate’s dry muscat: all the perfume of the grape, without a gram of sugar.
Riesling
Auf dem Berg & Silberberg
Clay-limestone hillside: stone fruit and taut minerality, all in a straight line.
Riesling
Grand Cru Engelberg
Marl over hard limestone, a south-facing slope. The estate’s great riesling for ageing.
Pinot Noir
Huette (voisin de l’Engelberg)
South-facing slope beside the Engelberg, spontaneous fermentation, old Burgundy barrels (ex-Méo-Camuzet). Brightness and finesse.
Pinot Noir
Rahn
The estate’s most ambitious red: barrel-aged, with the substance to keep.
Pinot Noir
Weg
Single-plot pinot noir on the clay-limestone slopes of Dahlenheim. A thirst-quenching red, supple and perfumed.
